Description

Task 35 worked on Flexible Sector Coupling (FSC) with energy storage and examined the role of energy storage in the FSC concept. Sectors are defined as the demand sectors electricity, heating/cooling, and mobility. With the integration of different energy storage technologies, it is possible to supply a demand sector with previously stored renewable energy on demand. Thereby, energy storage adds flexibility to the overall energy system. Possible energy storage technologies are thermal, chemical, and electrical energy storage.
